Digital Free Holidays at Boconnoc

Unplug from digital and recharge in nature

Daily life pulls families in so many directions – work, school, and the ever-present demands of our online lives.

At Boconnoc, the draw of abundant nature means that screens are forgotten, replaced by activities, exploration, and meaningful time together. The result is a digital-free self-catering escape where “just five more minutes” is an extension of a real-life moment, not a negotiation for screen time.

time for each other

Arriving at Boconnoc is like entering a secret world within Cornwall. Once you pass through the estate gates and travel along two miles of private road, your network signal will disappear and be replaced by a sense of calm and wonder at your new surroundings.

Acres upon acres of gardens and grounds are yours to discover. In your beautiful self-catering bolthole, you’ll find a guide to estate activities that will keep you and your travel companions happily rooted in the real world throughout your stay.

Country Hideaway

There are five self-catering properties to choose from at Boconnoc: Groom’s House (sleeps 6), Head Groom’s House (sleeps 4), the Dairy House (sleeps 6 to 8 and fully accessible), and for larger groups, The Stewardry (sleeps 14) and Boconnoc House (sleeps 19). Every property is beautifully appointed with all the comforts of home.

All Boconnoc properties have Wifi, but if you would like it turned off or the passwords removed, just let us know before you arrive. There is very little network coverage across the grounds.

Making magical memories

As you unpack and settle in (leave your devices and chargers in the bags), start planning the adventures you want to take and the memories you want to make.

Visit the Estate Office to say hello, get seasonal advice on what’s best to do and see across the estate and reserve bikes, paddleboards, tennis court, and more.

Read on to see some of what you can do at Boconnoc, and don’t forget the beach is only 8 miles away.

For Nature Lovers

Head to the woodland and hunt for ancient trees, some 800 years old and 8 metres in girth, and search for some of the 2300 species that thrive around the trees, like blue beetles, rare lichens and fungus. Go birding on the banks of Boconnoc lake and observe the deer grazing in the Deer Park.

For Romantics

Spend time in the pretty gardens, Georgian Bath House or at Lady Hamilton’s marble bath in the Fernery. Take magical walks through the Shrubbery, rest by the Romani caravan or watch the dragonflies darting over the lilies on the pond, or find a secret spot and read for hours.

For Athletes

Take Boconnoc’s bikes for a spin, paddleboard at the lake, play a game of tennis, or follow one of our running routes across the estate. There’s a cricket club in the Deer Park and we have football goals available.

For Foodies & Chefs

Visit the organic Kitchen Garden or Orchard to harvest fruits and vegetables and create a feast in the kitchen. And for alfresco cooking book the Ooni pizza oven and we’ll bring it to your accommodation ready to fire up.

For Historians

Visit our ancient monuments, walk to the water-powered Sawmill, or explore the Stable Yard and Church, with our history book in hand, to discover 800 years of Boconnoc’s story; from duels and royal visits to the changing landscape and the evolution of Boconnoc House.

For Creatives and Crafters

Spread out and let their creativity flow in the Stable Yard’s Craft Room. You’ll find some supplies there already, but your own supplies are very welcome. And of course the gardens offer no end of inspiration; from painting the scenery to collecting leaves and flowers to craft with.

For Gamers

Spend time enjoying offline games in the Stable Yard’s Games Room, with all of the classics including pool, table football, table tennis and giant Jenga.
