As 2026 begins, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year at Boconnoc Estate, one defined by celebration, growth and recognition for the people, place and principles that make Boconnoc so special.

In 2025, Boconnoc was honoured with three accolades at the Cornwall Tourism Awards and named Most Sustainable Medium-Sized Business at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards, reinforcing our position as a leader in sustainable holidays in Cornwall.

Boconnoc received Gold for Best Wedding Venue, confirming us as an award-winning wedding venue in Cornwall, and Silver for Self-Catering Accommodation, celebrating  Boconnoc’s status as one of the finest providers of award-winning self-catering accommodation in Cornwall. Together with the Unsung Hero Award for Hospitality Manager Louise Pearce, these honours perfectly reflect both the scale and heart of what we do.

Sustainability at the Heart of Boconnoc

Sustainability has always shaped Boconnoc. Owned by the Fortescue family for over 300 years, the estate reflects a lasting responsibility to the land. The late Anthony Fortescue’s vision for restoration and balance between people and nature guides our work today.

From habitat protection and renewable energy projects to proactive water management and a strong commitment to local sourcing, sustainability is woven into every part of the estate. These initiatives don’t exist in isolation – they enhance the experience of staying at Boconnoc, proving that heritage, hospitality and sustainability can flourish together.

  Award Winning Wedding Venue

Winning Gold for Best Wedding Venue was a proud moment for the whole team, alongside Elizabeth Fortescue, who founded the wedding business and set the standards we deliver today.  At Boconnoc, couples are invited to make the estate their own, hiring it exclusively and planning their day with the support of our experienced in-house team and a carefully curated group of trusted suppliers.

Every wedding is different, but what unites them is the level of care, attention to detail and genuine warmth that goes into each celebration. This award recognises not just the beauty of Boconnoc, but the people behind the scenes who bring each wedding to life.

Exceptional Hospitality and Care

One of the most moving moments of the awards evening was seeing Hospitality Manager Louise Pearce receive the Unsung Hero Award, a secret nomination from her colleagues that speaks volumes about the role she plays at Boconnoc.

Louise is known for her calm, expert delivery of large-scale weddings, her sensitivity in supporting families through meaningful moments, and her unwavering kindness. Beyond events, she also runs the Boconnoc Community Hub, held throughout the winter, creating a welcoming space for local people to come together over good company, great cake and shared activities.

Reflecting on her win, Louise said:
“When they called out my name, the world just stopped. I was totally blown away. How lucky I am to do a job that I love and be rewarded for doing so. It’s a privilege to work with our couples.”

Award Winning Self-Catering Holidays

The Silver Award for Self-Catering Accommodation marks another important milestone for the estate. When not hosting weddings, Boconnoc’s five luxury properties, sleeping between four and nineteen guests, can be booked individually, offering guests the rare experience of having their own private estate to explore.

From ancient woodland walks and open parkland to peaceful gardens and wildlife spotting, Boconnoc is a place where guests can slow down and reconnect with nature. As one recent visitor shared:
“Every day felt special. The estate is a dream for nature lovers, and the accommodation is elegant, cosy and incredibly comfortable. We didn’t want to leave.”

Looking Ahead

These awards recognise not just a successful year, but a long-term vision. Working recently with Plymouth University to accurately map our carbon footprint, we’ve strengthened our commitment to low-impact, regenerative practices across the estate.

As we look ahead, we hope our journey encourages others in the tourism industry to think long-term, care for the land, invest in people, and create meaningful experiences that leave a positive legacy.

Thank you to our wonderful team, our guests, our couples and our community for being part of such a special year at Boconnoc, and we look forward to what’s ahead in 2026.
