SUMMARY:Autumn Walks at Boconnoc
DESCRIPTION:  \nTake an autumn walk and explore Boconnoc’s grounds and ancient woodlands. \nWelcome the change of season this autumn with a day discovering the beauty of Boconnoc. Our Autumn Walks Open Day is a rare opportunity to explore the estate’s sweeping parkland\, ancient woodland\, gardens and hidden corners as the leaves turn to vibrant shades of gold\, russet\, and amber.    \nWander at your own pace along marked paths and woodland trails\, whether you’re a seasoned walker or simply looking for a peaceful escape\, the estate offers a beautiful backdrop for a day of exploration – you might walk to the lake\, search for ancient monuments\, marvel over the ancient oaks on the woodland trails\, or observe the gardens as the plants begin to retreat for winter.   \nThe autumn walks will be marked\, and maps will be available; routes will range from gentle strolls around the gardens to longer walks through the parkland to our longest route of 3.8 miles. Please note that this has been reduced from the planned 5-mile loop due to damage from Storm Amy. \nFor those who prefer to take a ride through the grounds in ‘style’\, our tractor-trailer will be running tours starting from the front of Boconnoc House.   \nBoconnoc House will be open and serving light refreshments\, including home-baked cakes\, sausage rolls\, soups and cream teas. Choose a table in the beautiful garden room or on the terrace.   \n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n\n	\n \n \nHighlights of the Day   \nThe Deer Park   \nTake a tractor-trailer ride through Boconnoc’s Deer Park\, where herds have roamed since 1540\, and see if you can spot the deer hidden in the russet-toned ferns. Please note that October is rutting season\, so there will be no walking routes through the Deer Park.  \nAncient Trees   \nScattered across the estate are magnificent ancient trees\, towering oaks\, gnarled chestnuts\, and veteran beeches that have stood for hundreds of years. Boconnoc’s woodland is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).  \nAncient Monuments & Hidden History   \nThe estate’s monuments and historic features add layers of discovery as you walk through trails and paths\, look for the Georgian Bath House\, or ancient Cornish Crosses and Boconnoc’s Obelisk.   \nGardens\, Lakes & Parkland Trails   \nLose yourself in sweeping views\, explore Boconnoc Lake\, Pinetum and Shrubbery\, or wander winding paths through gardens planted in the picturesque style. The estate’s landscape is renowned for its vibrant rhododendrons\, camellias\, and magnolias in the milder months\, but comes alive with Autumn colours with the change of season.   \nFamily-Friendly and Accessible Walks   \nWe have wide open spaces for children to run in\, secret corners for hide and seek and shorter\, easy routes for little legs\, or buggies. There will also be a marked route for wheelchair users.  \nDog Friendly  \nDogs on leads are warmly welcomed and are welcome to join their owners for refreshments on the terrace.   \n  \nDate: Sunday\, 12 October \nTime: 10am to 4pm\, last entry 3pm. \nTickets:  Adults: £5  Children under 12: Free  \nTractor-trailer ride: £2.50\, under 3’s free  \nParking and maps are complimentary \nTickets can be bought on entry. \nLAST ENTRY 3PM \n

SUMMARY:LilyBoo Day Retreat - Nature Studies in Watercolours with Tamsin Dearing
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring day at beautiful Boconnoc\, and enjoy an introduction to using watercolour painting to capture the natural world on the page. \nBased at Boconnoc’s Stable Yard and taking time to explore the grounds for inspiration\, the day will be hosted by the LilyBoo team and led by talented artist Tamsin Dearing.  \nThis workshop is designed for complete beginners. Whether you are new to making art or new to using watercolours\, you will have lots of fun learning new skills.    \nYou will learn a range of techniques to get you started with painting\, and build your confidence in using colour in a quick and rewarding way. Combining sketching and painting\, we will observe and record what we see\, creating a visual diary of the day and the stunning surroundings. \nThe day will be informative yet relaxed\, whilst we each find what we each enjoy and discover our own styles.  No pressure to get it ‘right’\, rather learning through play and the joy of vibrant and loose painting. \nWho is the workshop suitable for? \nThis is a great workshop for beginners or for those wanting a refresher. \nWho is the workshop led by? \nWe are delighted to be joined by artist Tamsin Dearing.  Tamsin will share her love of painting and showcase how the simplest of tools can create realistic art. Professional artist Tamsin specialises in pencil\, coloured pencil\, pastel\, and charcoal drawing. And more recently has developed a passion for en plein air sketching\, which also incorporates watercolour and pen work. \nWhat do you need to bring along  \nPlease bring a palette of watercolours (we recommend Daler-Rowney or Winsor & Newton) and brushes.  Or you may wish to purchase one of the LilyBoo starter kits.  We will provide blankets for the outdoors\, if you would prefer a chair\, please bring along a camping chair. \nOther things you need to know \nThe day includes lunch and refreshments. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. \nDate: 15th July \nTime: 10am to 4pm \nCost: £115 \nTo book your place\, please visit www.lilyBoocornwall.co.uk
