Ancient Tree Forum’s Veteran Tree Discovery Day at Boconnoc
This is a unique opportunity to spend an adventurous day exploring Boconnoc Deer Park, which has more ancient and veteran trees than any other site in Cornwall, and some fascinating archaeological features.
Led by Cornwall’s Ancient Tree Forum, the day will be divided into two parts. The morning guided walk will last two hours, from Boconnoc House to the current Deer Park. Following a picnic lunch, there will be a two-hour walk in the original medieval Deer Park before returning to the Boconnoc House by 4.00 pm.
Please note that we expect some steeper rough terrain, and there will be bracken and brambles in parts, with deer and sheep present.
We recommend wearing long trousers for protection against ticks.
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead and under control.
The event is free, but there will be an opportunity to donate to the Ancient Tree Forum charity.
Meet at 10:30 am for an introduction in the Stable Yard courtyard and an 11:00 am start to the walk.
Date: 24 August 2025
Time: 10.30 am for an 11.00 am start, 4.00 pm finish
