Orchard Management Workshop with Forest for Cornwall

Friday 6th March | 9.30am

This spring, Forest for Cornwall are bringing back their very popular Orchard Management Workshops in locations across Cornwall, including a workshop in the Orchard at Boconnoc.

The orchard at Boconnoc is home to organically grown heritage Cornish apple varieties, yielding over 800 bottles of apple juice annually. Enjoyed at hospitality events across the estate with zero food miles, the juice embodies a sustainability ethos which was recently recognised with a CSA award for Most Sustainable Medium Sized Organisation.

This workshop will be led by expert Forest for Cornwall project officers Meike Weiser and Ben Norwood, who have incredible local knowledge and have held many successful training sessions.

As well as talks outlining the importance of orchards, their planning and maintenance, there will be a practical workshop during which you will be able to practice the pruning and management techniques vital to the success of your own orchard. This will include formative and maintenance pruning, the right tool for the right job, pests and diseases and best practice.
